After running nonstop for weeks on end, taking a day to relax and regroup is just what we need sometimes. It’s so easy for us to make the excuse that we don’t have the time or cannot take the time to hit P A U S E. But we need to remind ourselves that we are allowed to do so. When we give ourselves the release from our daily routine, worries, and stresses, we’re able to step back and embrace the life we live. I was able to take this past Sunday to travel up to Sioux Falls to reflect and go to, Queen City Bakery, one of my prized treasures in the area. I was introduced to this bakery a few months ago and have been returning ever since.
Queen City is located in the East Bank of Sioux Falls. It's in the midst of other local eateries like Sanaa's Gourmet (another fave of mine) and Breadico. From the minute you walk in you immediately feel at home. The warmth from the natural light, beauty in the exposed brick, and all around relaxed feel, is the I D E A L place to come on any day of the week. The ambiance allows you to settle down with a cup of tea, a bottomless cup of coffee, a book, or your computer and lets the hours pass you by. Not only is their homemade Chai Latte with honey on point but paired with their freshly made pastries makes for the perfect all-around combo. If your sweet tooth has kicked in and you want to try something new, their rosemary butter cookies are A MUST!
Kristine and Mitch, the husband and wife duo behind Queen City Bakery, have been making a name for themselves in the area. Originally from New York, they opened the bakery in 2008 and have been expanding ever since. I look forward to what the future holds for this quaint shop. So if you find yourself in the Sioux Falls area and are looking for some delicious coffee or tea and pastries, Queen City Bakery is your spot.
