When we don’t always have our lives scheduled to a tee, that’s when things can flow beautifully.
Last weekend was a prime example of allowing myself to see where the day would take me. As much as I want to be go-go-go all of the time, it’s nice to put that on pause and s l o w things d o w n.
My initial plans for the weekend were always to wake up early, seize the day, and get out and L I V E. We are only given 2 days outside of work so we have to make the most of them! I was still able to do this, but on a more local scale. I opted out of hopping up to Sioux Falls to spend the day and instead ventured downtown with Kris. Our initial plan was to grab coffee and work at local restaurant, but we opted for coffee, tea, sweets, and conversation instead. This was the perfect combination after a busy first week of classes.
As much as I find myself wanting to do it all, all the time, sometimes it isn’t possible. Easier said than done right!? YES, I know. But we all struggle with our idea of accomplishing our life goals in the shortest amount of time feasible. It’s okay to give ourselves time to return to the drawing board and try again. Rome wasn’t built in a day. We have to remember that and repeat it to ourselves in times of stress.
Challenge yourself to move slow this weekend and see how the day blossoms. The chaos, stress, and pressure of our everyday lives can be exhausting. Sometimes what we really need is to sit back, relax, and chat with a dear friend.
